reconfiguration study

In October of 2013, Dr. Jerome McKibben developed a demographic

study that included school enrollment projections. This study indicated

that Hamilton Heights School Corporation would experience declining

enrollment that would stabilize in the 2023/2024 school year.

During the 2013/2014 school year, krM Architecture+ worked with the

school corporation to develop a comprehensive facility plan (commonly

referred to as the ‘Project Vision’ document and sometimes referred to

as the ‘CFP’). In this document, various projects and project costs were

identified based on the condition of existing building stock and the vision

for improved educational environments. It was noted that Hamilton

Heights has significant building area per student when compared

to national and state-wide averages. This was further validated by

identifying various under-utilized areas within each of the buildings.

As a result, this study was envisioned to assist the school board in

evaluating the best usage for existing buildings and to assist in the

planning for future capital projects, as well as anticipating future

operational costs.
