Summer Work
Summer Break is an Opportunity!
Summer break provides some much-needed rest and relaxation for students. It's the longest stretch of the year without school, and it marks the "in between" time of grade levels. It's a fun time--the weather is great, and there's so much to do! Swimming, camping, playing video games or reading books--students have infinite options of what to do with their newfound free time.
However, summer break can also result in a loss of skills. The time away from school can cause students to forget things they learned the previous year. In light of that, we've prepared summer packets for students. The hard work and dedication to this project resulted in summer learning materials for both elementary and middle school students.
These materials are complete with an answer key and instructions for solving the problems (in case you've forgotten as well). We encourage you to go over these materials with your student(s). It's only a small amount of work each day for the students, but it will certainly pay off in the fall! Doing this work helps your student retain information and get a jump start on the next school year.
A Note about Summer Work
These resources are for parents to be able to use with their children over the summer. In elementary school, we want you to practice math facts with your child five times a week for at least fifteen (15) minutes a day.
For middle school, there are skills to work on each day that will take about fifteen (15) minutes to solve. An answer key is included, so you and your child can see the process.
If they can master these facts or skills, it will make the following year(s) a little easier in math. These are designed to be parent-friendly and not time consuming, but still beneficial for your child.
