Technology Fees
Understanding Technology Fees
We know that accidents happen. Sometimes, school-issued equipment can become damaged--whether items are dropped, piled with other items, or mishandled in some manner.
Electronic gadgets can be damaged in a huge variety of ways--from damaged ports to broken screens. When students (or staff!) damage an item that is assigned to them, we will provide a loaner when it is possible while their device is awaiting repair.
Families can also receive a bill from the Technology Department in other scenarios as well; for instance, if a student withdraws from HHSC and does not return their school-issued device, their family will receive a bill for the replacement cost of that device.
My student damaged their device. What do I do?
If your student has a broken device, please advise them to submit a student help desk ticket or visit the Technology Department directly. Younger students can inform their teacher, who may then submit a ticket and/or email a Technology specialist directly (parents can also choose to communicate this information with their child's teacher).
The student will receive a loaner device while their damaged device is being repaired. A bill will be sent to you to cover the cost of the repair.*
*Rarely, a student may inadvertently damage another student's equipment. In that case, the individual responsible for the damage will receive the bill, regardless of who the device was assigned to.
Approximate Repair Costs
Each building has a damage form that will be completed and submitted for billing. Estimated costs of repair can be found on these forms:
