Background
From Ford NGL to Reaching New Heights (RNH)--and Beyond
Believe it or not, the Reaching New Heights initiative didn't start as Reaching New Heights. It began as Ford NGL, or Ford Next Generation Learning.
It was the fall of 2022 when Hamilton Heights School Corporation (HHSC) began this exciting journey. Our district joined six other schools in an effort to transform our respective learning systems. With the support of the Central Indiana Education Service Center (CIESC), the Indiana Department of Education, and Ford Next Learning Generation (NGL), we commenced our journey on the Ford NGL Roadmap.
We successfully navigated the initial phases of the Ford NGL framework, which allowed us to reinforce out commitment to extensive academic programs, foster a community-wide emphasis on employability skills, and expand opportunities for career exploration within HHSC.
Collaborating with Ford NGL provided us with a platform to examine several aspects of our system, enabling us to make changes for improvement. This process not only revitalized our community, but ignited a renewed sense of purpose among our students, teachers, staff, administrators, and school board members.
The culmination of these efforts resulted in the HHSC Master Plan. This document stands as a collaborative, dynamic document that serves as a blueprint for our implementation.
As time progressed, we discovered we wanted--needed--to grow further from Ford NGL. Thus, after a time, HHSC moved away from Ford NGL in favor of pursuing our own idea--Reaching New Heights.
