Grade 6

Grade 6 tends to be both more and less stressful than grade 5. On one hand, students have been in the middle school for a year, so they're familiar with where things are; on the other hand, they change classes more frequently. Sixth grade is when middle school students really start to grasp how middle school life works.

Define and explain the difference between kinetic and potential energy

Social Studies

In Social Studies, students will:

Compare causes and effects of population growth, movement by people, and urbanization
Explain how language, religion, and the arts express culture
Explain how the United States gained independence and analyze the challenges it faced afterward
Compare the accomplishments of the Olmec and Zapotec
Explain the effects of the Spanish conquest
Distinguish between obligations and responsibilities in civic life
Gather information about protected rights in the Bill of Rights
