In English, they'll:

• Demonstrate understanding of sequencing, problem/solution, cause/effect, and author's point of view
• Plan, revise, edit, and publish
• Restate questions, answer, cite evidence, and explain
• Refer to details, examples, and text evidence when making text inferences
• Identify characteristics of expository text and persuasive articles, use Greek and Latin roots as context clues, identify main idea and key details
• Identify characteristics of tall tales, mysteries, biographies, expository texts, and poetry

In Math, they'll:

• Create and analyze line plots, frequency tables, and bar and line graphs
• Explain whether an estimate is an overestimate or underestimate
• Multiply multi-digit numbers by one-digit, two-digit, and three-digit numbers
• Divide multi-digit numbers by two-digit numbers using the standard algorithm and use estimation or multiplication to check the answer
• Write masses and capacities using equivalent metric measures
• Draw and identify polygons and symmetric shapes in a coordinate plane

In Science, students will:

• Explain what scientists do and how they investigate
• Identify the three states of matter and provide examples of each
• Identify properties of minerals and describe the three basic rock types (igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic)
• Define and understand what a star is
• Identify and apply the steps of the design process

In Social Studies, students will:

• Identify states and capitals of the 50 US states
• Discuss current and past events and their impact
• Discuss historical articles and identify key points
• Sequence events and people of the nineteenth-century America, analyze maps, and interpret timelines

In P.E., students learn:
