History and the study of the world and its cultures can help prepare us for the future. We can use what we've learned about the past to make predictions about future events. This knowledge can even help us solve new or existing problems. Students in these courses gain new knowledge about the world and its history.

Analyze demand and supply graphs
Define budget debt and budget deficit and distinguish between the two, and explain the effects of both on the economy
Identify ways firms raise financial capital
Explain the limitations of using GDP to measure economic welfare
Compare and contrast different types of financial investments

Government

In Government, they'll:

Interpret and analyze the purposes and functions of government found in the Preamble of the United States Constitution
Explain the history and provide historical and contemporary examples of fundamental principles and values of American political and civic life
Explain how a bill becomes law in the legislative process of the United States
Explain how citizens in the United States participate in public elections as voters and supporters of candidates for public office
Explain and evaluate the original purpose and role of the Electoral College and its relevance today
Describe the influence of the media and technology on public opinion and public policy

Psychology

In Psychology, students will:

Explain how scientific methodology has been used in psychological research in the past and present
Analyze human behavior from modern-day perspectives in psychology
Understand the physical, motor, and cognitive development of children
Explain how nature and nurture influence human development
Identify the major psychologists involved in the study of personality and describe the main characteristics of their theories

US History

In US History, students will:

Explain the causes and consequences of the Industrial Revolution
Explain the debates surrounding America's entrance into global imperialism
Assess the causes of the resurgence of social movements, reform movements, and vigilante groups
Identify key leaders and events from World War II and explain the significance of each
Identify the problems confronting different minorities during this period of economic and social change and describe the solutions to these problems
