In Construction Trades I, they'll:

• Learn about supplies used in building
• Draw scaled drawings and work out processes and procedures with them to make scaled models
• Study floor and wall structures
• Build trusses for a roof
• Learn the basics of framing walls and drywalling them afterward

In Principles of Construction Trades, they'll:

• Differentiate the vertical and horizontal construction industry and the various skilled trades required to perform the work
• Don, fit, and remove eye and hearing protection, hard hat, gloves, and fall arrest harness
• Identify and explain how to avoid struck-by and caught-between hazards
• Build a scale model house that they designed
• Build a truss bridge and test it for strength
• Learn about concrete and do a project using skills they've learned

In Civil Construction Fundamentals, students will:

• Identify the five basic types of soils and summarize their characteristics
• Explain how soil characteristics affect machine performance, and how soil conditions can affect trenching safety
• Explain what the shrink factor is and how to calculate the shrink factor of soils
• Understand the swell factor
• Explain how soil density is determined
