Art

In Intro to 2D Art, Advanced 2D Art, and AP 2D & AP Drawing, they'll:

• Photograph three still lifes of food to use as inspiration for their paintings
• Create 3 works of art under one investigation
• Participate in a critique and curate their artwork
• Practice different alteration and graphite techniques in their sketchbooks
• Write an artist statement about their sustained investigation
• Practice drawing facial features using additive and reductive charcoal techniques by completing 10 sketches in their sketchbook
• Use composition to create aesthetic pages
• Create works of art that reflects the topics "portrait with words," "layers and mixed media," and "humor and satire in art"

In 3D Art, they'll learn:

• Jewelry/keychain techniques
• Edit photographs using settings
• Create an accordion sketchbook
• Create a lantern using reeds, tissue paper, and glue
• Create a life-sized tape person using their bodies and packaging tape

In Painting, students will:

• Create a book cover using mixed media
• Use Photoshop to distort an image
• Understand how the process of making prints using subtractive and additive methods
• Apply knowledge of color theory and color mixing by selecting colors that work well and mix well together to print with
• Create a realistic portrait and shade a human face realistically

In Ceramics, students will:

• Look at and discuss examples of coil vessels and hand building techniques
• Plan out and create a coil vessel that includes positive and negative shapes
• Implement relief carving and additive sculpting techniques to create a relief carving
• Practice glazing techniques that replicate the colors of the original image
• Learn how to make a plaster mold of a carved clay design
• Use critical analysis to understand a work of art
