More About Grades

GPA & Grade Weighting

Understanding how grades are calculated is important to track graduation and diploma requirements.

Grade Point Average (GPA)

To determine GPA for a semester, use the scale listed below. Values for each class should be totaled and this number divided by the number of credits attempted.

Grade Weighting

Grades will be weighted as determined by the significant course load and difficulty of specific courses. AP, ACP, or dual credit courses that are offered are weighted. One weighted point will be added to the points earned in each of the identified courses. For example, instead of a 4.0 for an A in an unweighted course, an A will count as a 5.0 in a weighted course. Speak to the School Counseling Office about specific details regarding weighted courses

A = 4.0 & 5.0
A- = 3.666 & 4.666
B+ = 3.333 & 4.333
B = 3.0 & 4.0
B- = 2.666 & 3.666
C+ = 2.333 & 3.333
C = 2.0 & 3.0
C- = 1.666 & 2.666
D+ = 1.333 & 2.333
D = 1.0 & 2.0
D- = 0.666 & 1.666
F = 0 & 0
